A 79-year-old man has died and an 80-year-old woman has been seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Benidorm. The collision happened at around 4.25pm on Sunday at the roundabout where the N-332 exits towards Terra MÃtica, near kilometre 145 of the road.
The Centre for Traffic Management said only one vehicle was involved. Emergency services sent a SAMU advanced life-support ambulance and a basic life-support unit to the scene.
The man was found in cardiac arrest. Medical staff carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation for several minutes, but could not revive him and confirmed his death at the scene.
The woman suffered multiple serious injuries. Staff treated her at the roundabout before taking her by ambulance to La Vila Joiosa Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition. Traffic services worked at the scene to protect road users and restore normal traffic near the busy access to Terra MÃtica and Benidorm’s main roads.
