The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions, known as CSIF, called on Monday for a fire station to be created in La Manga. The union says this would improve emergency response times in an area that attracts hundreds of thousands of people during the summer months.
MartÃn Toledo, CSIF’s fire service representative and a staff representative for Cartagena City Council, said the current distribution of resources makes it more difficult to respond quickly to some parts of La Manga.
Cartagena’s fire station is based at the Security Park on the La Unión road. CSIF says it is around 25 minutes by car from Monte Blanco, near the boundary between La Manga in Cartagena and La Manga in San Javier.
