Spain’s Guardia Civil has arrested two German fugitives wanted by authorities in Germany over their alleged involvement in an international drug trafficking network. One man was arrested in Tenerife on 28 January, while the other was later detained at a property in Cartagena.

The Guardia Civil began investigating in June 2025, after Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office, known as the BKA, asked for help locating the suspects. The men had fled to Spain as pressure mounted on the organisation, which had been under investigation since 2021.

Authorities allege that one suspect led the network and the other assisted him. The group is accused of exporting large quantities of cocaine, amphetamine and marijuana from Spain to Germany, with several dozen shipments intercepted during the investigation.

The suspects, aged 33 and 35, were tracked through Alicante and Tenerife. They repeatedly moved to avoid arrest, but officers eventually detained both men. They have been placed at the disposal of Spain’s National Court and are in prison awaiting extradition to Germany.
