A 70-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while cycling on the RM-F38 road near the border between Torre Pacheco and San Javier.
The collision happened at around 9.24am on Tuesday, 18 August, on the road between Dolores de Pacheco and Pozo Aledo. The crash involved the man’s bicycle, a car and a lorry. Initial findings from the Guardia Civil investigation indicate that the cyclist and car were travelling in the same direction when the man was struck.
The Region of Murcia’s 112 Emergency Coordination Centre received several calls reporting the collision and the seriousness of the cyclist’s injuries. A 061 mobile emergency unit attended the scene, but paramedics were unable to save the man and confirmed his death.
Guardia Civil officers regulated traffic and began investigating the circumstances of the crash. The man was of North African origin.
