Torrevieja Council has expanded its current recruitment process for local police officers to 63 posts, following approval by the staff committee. The total has risen from 44 after the council added posts from its 2025 and 2026 employment offers to those already planned for 2023 and 2024. Of the total, 45 posts are open-entry positions and 18 are reserved for internal mobility.

The selection process is now in its final phase. Candidates have recently completed the final practical test and will undergo medical checks before they can be appointed as trainee civil servants. Councillor for Human Resources and Internal Affairs María José Ruiz said the measure would strengthen public safety and provide greater stability for the force.

The council expects the process to finish in the coming months, allowing Torrevieja to begin 2027 with around 180 local police officers. This will be complemented by separate selection processes for 30 management posts, covering the ranks of officer, inspector, superintendent and commissioner. The council says it is also working on creating further posts to modernise and expand the force in the coming years.
