Torrevieja Council has awarded a €1,936,897 contract to renew and improve its Municipal Home Help Service. The agreement will run for two years, with the option of a further two-year extension, and will support older people, people with care needs and vulnerable families.

The service will combine applications handled by the council with support provided under the Valencian Government’s Dependency Law for people in grades I, II and III. Social Services councillor Óscar Urtasun said the contract would strengthen practical assistance while also tackling loneliness, preventing isolation and providing reassurance for families.

The agreement guarantees staff stability through the compulsory transfer of existing employees. It requires a minimum team of 26 home-care assistants and two social workers dedicated to direct co-ordination with the council.

The contract also includes 50 annual hours for each specialist service: psychology, physiotherapy, podiatry, hairdressing and beauty care. It provides six portable stairlifts and a reserve of 1,350 hours a year for urgent needs, including 1,100 ordinary hours and 250 hours on public holidays. Everyday support will include personal hygiene, mobility, household tasks, prescribed medication checks and accompaniment to appointments or medical visits.
