An Orihuela Local Police patrol car has been involved in a serious-looking crash on the N-332, shortly before the Punta Prima roundabout. The collision happened on Sunday morning during a pursuit, according to sources close to the police operation.

The sources said officers had ordered a vehicle to stop, but the driver fled. During the pursuit, the patrol car hit a planter on the edge of the road. No injuries have been reported, although the crash alarmed pedestrians in an area with several hospitality businesses alongside the highway.

The Guardia Civil’s traffic unit, which is responsible for the state-owned road, regulated traffic while the incident was dealt with. The driver of the pursued vehicle was reportedly located and detained shortly afterwards.

Orihuela Local Police did not publish details of the crash on Sunday, despite regularly sharing information about operations, particularly on the coast. The town council has also not issued an official statement about the incident.
