Guardia Civil officers have arrested a 42-year-old man in Mazarrón, Murcia, on suspicion of making threats with a firearm and drug trafficking. Several residents of an urbanisation reported threats allegedly made by the suspect, who was also linked to the sale of illegal drugs.

The investigation began in July. Officers gathered evidence suggesting the man had allegedly threatened victims to stop them reporting the incidents. One of the threats under investigation allegedly involved a firearm.

The Guardia Civil also said the suspect had allegedly tried to enter the drug trade at several leisure venues in the area and had intimidated some owners. Surveillance operations helped officers identify his home, after which a court authorised a search.

Officers found several prohibited weapons, including a knuckleduster and a butterfly knife, as well as more than half a kilogram of methamphetamine. The man has been arrested on suspicion of threats involving a firearm and drug trafficking.
