Torrevieja has coordinated a special safety operation for Wednesday’s solar eclipse, when large crowds are expected. The International Auditorium and Antonio Soria Park have been designated as official viewing points, with security services also deployed in sensitive areas.

Two special shuttle bus services will operate to the viewing locations. Buses will leave Gregorio Marañón, Hotel Fontana and the bus station at 19:00 and 19:30, with return journeys at 20:40 and 21:15. The Parque Antonio Soria service will stop at the market stop on Avenida Monge y Bielsa. Regular services will also help people reach both sites, including the C1 circular route and route 6, which stops at Quirón Hospital near the auditorium.

The eclipse will be visible from Torrevieja as a partial eclipse, reaching around 98% obscuration between approximately 19:40 and 20:35. Sunset is expected at about 21:00. The council is urging people to use approved eclipse glasses meeting ISO 12312-2 and never look directly at the Sun without suitable protection.

The Generalitat Valenciana has declared level three pre-emergency status for maximum wildfire risk across the region on 12 August. This includes a ban on entering forest areas by paths or cross-country and on lighting fires in woodland or within 500 metres of it. Residents and visitors are asked to use public transport, follow safety instructions and keep pets calm, secured and under supervision.
