The Municipal Institute of Culture “Joaquin Chapaprieta” has carried out improvement works at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre in Torrevieja, investing 17,545 euros to refurbish three dance classrooms. The project involved the full repair and polishing of the studio floors, which had shown significant wear and were affecting normal classes.

The work has restored the correct levels of grip, balance and cushioning required for dance, particularly classical ballet. This discipline demands specific technical conditions to prevent injuries, ensure safe movement and allow pointe work to be carried out properly.

Local officials have said the investment reflects the Town Hall’s commitment to high-quality arts education and the development of young talent. The three upgraded studios form the core of daily training for pupils at the Municipal School of Dance, providing a safe and professional environment that supports both technical progress and artistic growth.

The institute said the refurbishment strengthens Torrevieja’s position as a reference point for municipal arts education, ensuring public facilities are equipped to nurture the next generation of performers.
