A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Torrevieja after officers discovered he was the subject of several European Arrest Warrants issued by Lithuania and Germany.

The Guardia Civil made the arrest during a routine public safety patrol. Officers identified several people in the street and noticed inconsistencies in the documents presented by one man, raising suspicions about his true identity.

Further checks confirmed he had been using a false identity and was internationally wanted. Lithuanian authorities are seeking him for public order offences, while German authorities have issued warrants for property-related crimes. His real identity was verified with the assistance of the National Police’s Punto Atenas unit, which specialises in biometric facial identification.

Investigators believe the man had concealed his true identity for several years, carrying out administrative and banking procedures under false details. He is also being investigated for alleged document forgery and has been placed at the disposal of the Central Investigative Court at Spain’s National Court, which is handling the European arrest proceedings.
