A Guardia Civil investigation has resulted in the arrest of an employee of the AP-7 motorway in the Region of Murcia, accused of misappropriating more than 1,200 euros in toll payments.
According to officers, the man allegedly manipulated the system when drivers paid in cash. He is said to have recorded shorter journeys using tickets from other vehicles, allowing him to keep the difference between the amount paid and the sum registered.
The inquiry, known as Operation ‘Enlazado’, began in June after the motorway concessionaire’s legal team reported suspected irregularities in toll management on the route between Cartagena and Vera in AlmerÃa.
Once sufficient evidence had been gathered, officers attended the suspect’s workplace, where he was allegedly preparing to serve a customer while concealing several lower-value tickets. He has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out a continued offence of fraud.
