Residents in the Playa Moncayo area of Guardamar del Segura have voiced concern about the condition of a pinewood next to Calle Suecia, warning that dry trees and accumulated vegetation pose a potential fire risk. The alarm was raised on Tuesday evening by the president of the Phase III Parcela 2A-2 Community of Property Owners, Samuel Flores Molina.

Flores says the community has repeatedly asked the Valencian regional government’s Environment department to inspect the area and assess whether preventive measures are needed, particularly regarding dead pines and combustible undergrowth. He claims no officials have visited the site and no response has been received.

Residents fear that, if a forest fire were to break out, flames could quickly spread to nearby homes or through the wider woodland area, especially during periods of high summer temperatures and dry conditions. Flores says prevention is the best way to avoid dangerous situations.

The community has also contacted Guardamar Town Hall to request the installation of fire hydrants on Calle Suecia or at nearby strategic points, stating that none currently exist. They argue that hydrants would allow faster emergency response. So far, they say, there has been no reply to this request either.
