The La Mata and Torrelamata Residents’ Association has formally asked Torrevieja Council to support a request for noise barriers along the N-332 as it passes through La Mata. The proposal has been submitted to the council so it can be taken to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, which is responsible for state roads.

The association says residents in areas including Puerto Romano, Calle La Lecha and around La Mata Health Centre have complained for years about high noise levels from heavy traffic. It argues that the volume of vehicles has led to significant noise pollution, affecting rest, wellbeing and overall quality of life.

As well as reducing noise, the group has suggested that any barriers should be designed to blend with the surrounding urban landscape and the nearby Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park, limiting visual impact.

The association believes formal backing from Torrevieja Council is essential to strengthen the case before central government. It has also published the full text of its submission in the interest of transparency, allowing residents to review the proposal in detail.
