The Valencian Government has formally delegated powers to Orihuela Town Hall to construct a second health centre in Orihuela Costa. The resolution was published on Friday in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana. The move follows a request by the council last October under a regional decree regulating cooperation on primary healthcare infrastructure.

The project has a maximum investment of 8,903,435 euros, рассчитated for a shared population of 28,379 patients. Of that total, 690,188 euros have been allocated for drafting the project and site management through to 2029, while 8,213,247 euros are earmarked for construction from next year. Work is expected to start in 2027 and conclude in 2029, subject to annual regional budget approvals.

The centre will be located on Calle Trepadora in the Villa Rosa sector, around six kilometres from the existing Aguamarina clinic and close to the Torrevieja boundary. The Town Hall will invest a further one million euros to prepare the plot and will cover ongoing maintenance and running costs.

Plans include five GP surgeries, five nursing consultations, paediatrics, maternity care, rehabilitation, radiology, dental services and a 24-hour urgent care point. The resolution must still receive final approval at a full council meeting.
