Three people have been arrested in San Pedro del Pinatar following an investigation into a series of bicycle and electric scooter thefts. The Civil Guard in the Region of Murcia said the operation, known as ‘Pedalier’, has so far solved more than a dozen offences and dismantled a suspected criminal group.

The investigation began in April after officers noticed a rise in thefts in the municipality, particularly in the Lo Pagán area. Detectives from the Civil Guard’s Investigation Unit identified a pattern involving mid to high range bicycles, electric bikes and electric scooters.

According to police, the suspects acted in a coordinated way, with some keeping watch while others used cutting tools to break locks and chains. In some cases, they climbed perimeter fences to pass the stolen items to another member of the group. Officers recovered two electric bicycles from a garage linked to the suspects, while a patrol seized two electric scooters during a preventative check.

The four recovered vehicles have been returned to their owners after being placed at the disposal of the court. One of the electric bikes was valued at 7,000 euros. The investigation is continuing and further arrests have not been ruled out.
