Cartagena City Council has approved a collaboration agreement with the Regional Government for lifeguard, rescue and first aid services on the municipality’s beaches under the 2026 COPLA Plan. The decision was confirmed at a meeting of the Local Government Board.

The council will fund the majority of the operation, contributing €1,159,589.01, while the Autonomous Community will provide €159,565.34 towards the total cost.

Councillors have also authorised several advance spending files to be included in the 2027 municipal budget so that contracting can begin early. These include €231,745.79 for electrical supply works at the assembly hall and classroom building of CEIP Mediterráneo, as well as public lighting in La Manga. The upgrade will allow the school to bring its air conditioning system into operation.

In addition, €537,615.48 has been earmarked for structural improvements to the Isleta Bridge in La Manga del Mar Menor, following concerns about its current condition.
