A next-generation unmanned surface vessel powered by artificial intelligence has been tested in the waters of the Port of Alicante. The trial of the BNK Serie M Patrol Version took place on Tuesday at Dock 19 and was promoted by the company Cyberdatacontrol SL.

According to the Port Authority, the vessel can reach speeds of up to 53 knots, or 100 km per hour. During the demonstration, technicians evaluated precision manoeuvres, assisted and autonomous navigation, and onboard safety protocols in a real operational environment.

The craft is designed for coastal surveillance, reconnaissance and support for maritime operations. It features programmed autonomous routes, next-generation radar, thermal imaging and AI systems capable of identifying vessels, people and floating objects. It also includes redundant mobile and satellite communications, along with automatic safety procedures in case of signal loss.

Officials say the initiative highlights Alicante as a reference point for testing advanced maritime security technologies. The trial coincides with the publication of new draft regulations to govern a controlled testing environment for innovative technologies within the port area, aimed at balancing innovation with the protection of people and infrastructure.
