Torrevieja Council has reinforced watering work across the municipality as high summer temperatures put increasing pressure on local green spaces. The Parks and Gardens Department, headed by Concha Sala, says the measures aim to preserve the condition of parks, roundabouts, flowerbeds and landscaped areas during prolonged heat and limited rainfall.

Municipal teams are working continuously to ensure trees and plants receive sufficient water to withstand the most intense periods of heat. The council says this seasonal effort is essential to reduce water stress on vegetation and to maintain the town’s urban natural heritage.

Councillor Sala has stressed that caring for green areas is a year-round priority, but requires additional effort in summer. She praised the commitment and professionalism of staff, whose daily work helps maintain Torrevieja’s image as an increasingly green and sustainable town.

Beyond their visual appeal, landscaped areas play an important role in tackling climate change by lowering ambient temperatures, providing shade, improving air quality and supporting biodiversity. The council says the continued maintenance ensures attractive, welcoming public spaces for residents and visitors throughout the most demanding months of the year.
