A vegetation fire that broke out in Benidorm on Sunday afternoon has been stabilised after sending a large column of smoke across parts of the city.
The Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium said it received the alert at 17:04. The blaze was stabilised at around 20:00, roughly three hours later. It affected scrubland and low woodland vegetation.
No injuries have been reported. A helicopter was deployed to direct and co‑ordinate ground crews during the operation.
In total, 12 firefighters from the Benidorm station took part, alongside a command unit, two heavy forest fire engines, a heavy water tanker, a rural fire engine, three forest firefighter units and one aerial firefighting resource.
