Local Police in Orihuela have arrested a man on suspicion of an offence against industrial property after seizing a large shipment of suspected counterfeit goods.

The operation took place at the municipal vehicle depot in Orihuela Costa. The owner of a van attended the site to recover his vehicle, which had previously been immobilised for not having compulsory insurance. During the handover, officers noticed that the rear doors were not closing properly.

When they asked the owner to secure the doors, officers saw that the van was filled with large bags containing items from well-known sports and fashion brands. Several officers were required to carry out a full inspection of the contents.

Police counted more than 2,000 sports garments linked to various teams and national sides, as well as dozens of bags and accessories. The estimated retail value of the seized goods is around 52,945 euros. The suspect and the confiscated items have been placed at the disposal of the courts.
