Two men aged 19 and 21 have been arrested by the National Police in Benidorm after allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his wallet in an incident filmed and circulated on social media.

They are also suspected of robbing a woman of her handbag in a separate attack in the same city. According to police, the woman was approached from behind and the bag was taken by force. Members of the public alerted by the victim chased the suspects, managed to stop them and recovered the stolen property.

Officers from the National Police and Benidorm Local Police attended both incidents, assisted the victims and took custody of the two men who had been held by bystanders. Investigators established a possible link between the two robberies.

The suspects were arrested on suspicion of robbery with violence, theft and assault, and were brought before the Benidorm courts on 30 June. The male victim seen in the social media video was treated in hospital and later discharged, as his injuries were not considered serious.
