National Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in Elche in connection with the theft of collector’s Lego sets valued at more than 10,000 euros. The items were taken from a detached property in the Torrellano district during the final weekend of May.

The victim, who owns a shop specialising in these products, reported that a window had been broken and a large number of exclusive sets stolen. He provided officers with a detailed list, explaining that some of the pieces were so rare that it would be highly unusual for a private individual in Spain to own them.

Judicial Police officers traced several of the items to two second-hand shops in Elche and Alicante, where they had been sold by the same individual. The victim later identified the recovered goods as his property, and they were returned to him.

The suspect, who was a neighbour of the victim, was arrested while attempting to sell 11 more sets. A subsequent search of his home uncovered further stolen items. He has been brought before an investigating court in Elche, and enquiries are continuing to locate the remaining property.
