The Valencian Health Department has confirmed that five auxiliary beach clinics will open in Alicante province as part of this year’s summer healthcare campaign. Thirty health centres across the province will also receive additional staff, giving Alicante the largest reinforcement package in the Comunitat Valenciana.

Regionally, the summer plan is backed by a budget of 85.2 million euros. In total, 25 beach clinics will open and 74 health centres will be strengthened. Hospital capacity will increase by 4.8% compared with last summer, with more beds available across July, August and September.

Health minister Marciano Gómez said the Generalitat has allocated 2.7 million euros more than last summer and nearly 13 million euros more than under the previous legislature’s final summer plan. He said the measures show a commitment to both residents and visitors, while respecting healthcare workers’ right to annual leave.

Around 9,000 summer contracts are planned, subject to staff availability. Emergency departments in high-tourism areas will be reinforced if required, and full bed capacity will be maintained in the busiest coastal and inland hospitals.
