National Police have arrested a man in Elche, Alicante, accused of an offence against industrial property after allegedly building a replica Ferrari 360 Spider and offering it for sale online at a price “well below” the original.

The Cybercrime Unit of the Murcia Regional Police Headquarters detected the suspected breach of industrial property rights. Officers located the man in the El Altet area while he was driving the vehicle, which they described as an excellent replica of the Italian manufacturer’s model.

Investigators said a steel monocoque chassis from another brand had been used as the base. Fibreglass and other low-cost materials were then added to recreate the appearance of a Ferrari, allegedly imitating its registered designs, lines, logos and distinctive Cavallino Rampante emblem.

Police said the vehicle displayed the black prancing horse on a yellow shield, the Italian flag and the initials SF for Scuderia Ferrari. Although the car reportedly had the necessary modification paperwork and ITV approval, officers seized it and arrested the suspect over the alleged unlawful use of Ferrari’s protected brand elements.
