Two men aged 31 and 32 have been remanded in custody by a court in Torrevieja after their arrest over a series of violent robberies targeting elderly residents. The Civil Guard linked them to four offences committed between March and May 2026 in Torrevieja and the La Mata district.

Investigators said the suspects carried out so-called “snatch” robberies, surprising victims in the street and using force to pull chains and jewellery from their necks. The victims were aged between 75 and 93, and some suffered injuries of varying severity.

Officers from the Torrevieja Civil Guard identified the suspects following several months of enquiries, supported by public cooperation. In one incident on 1 May, one of the men was arrested minutes after the robbery while still carrying the stolen chain.

Police believe the pair acted in coordination, with one selecting and watching potential victims while the other carried out the нападения using pushes and force. Stolen jewellery was later sold on the illicit market. Several recovered items have now been returned to their rightful owners.
