Firefighters have extinguished a wildfire that broke out in Catral, close to the motorway, on Tuesday at 3.17pm.
The blaze started in reed beds at Camino de la Arroba de Hornos, 71, near several villas. Due to the speed at which the flames spread, the Provincial Fire Consortium deployed a helicopter, four crews from Crevillent and Almoradà fire stations, and two forest firefighting units.
Crews stabilised the fire at 5.15pm, at which point the helicopter was stood down. The incident was brought under control at 6.30pm and fully extinguished just over an hour later.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
