The Generalitat has reinforced the interurban bus service connecting La Mata, in the north of Torrevieja, with Torrevieja University Hospital, reducing journey times from almost two hours to just over 20 minutes. Previously, passengers had to travel into the town centre and change buses, leading to long waits and extended travel times.

The new direct route operates eight times a day from Monday to Friday, and four times a day at weekends and on public holidays. The stop is located next to the viaduct access that crosses the N-332. The service forms part of wider improvements to interurban transport across the Vega Baja.

Torrevieja’s councillor for Transport, Antonio Vidal, said the reinforcement had been requested by the council for some time and was made possible alongside a new line promoted by Guardamar with the same hospital connection objective.

The La Mata Neighbourhood Association has welcomed the change, saying it significantly reduces travel times and removes the need for transfers. The planned route also avoids some of the usual congestion on the N-332 by entering via Avenida Cortes Valencianas and exiting near La Veleta roundabout.
