National Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in Elche accused of carrying out a violent burglary at the home of an elderly woman after pretending to be a technician from an internet company.

According to investigators, the suspect knocked on the victim’s door and claimed to be an operative. The woman became suspicious and attempted to close the door, but the man allegedly blocked it with his foot, forced his way inside and pushed her to the ground. She struck a piece of furniture in the hallway during the fall.

While the victim remained on the floor, the suspect is said to have taken a large television from the property. The homeowner later reported that several pieces of jewellery stored in a bedroom jewellery box were also missing. He then left the scene quickly.

Forensic officers collected evidence at the address, which proved crucial in identifying the suspect. The investigation was led by the Judicial Police Brigade in Elche, with support from the Scientific Police Brigade. The man has been brought before the duty investigating courts in Elche on suspicion of violent burglary in an occupied home.
