Prosecutors have requested two-year prison sentences for two managers of an estate agency accused of misappropriating money paid as a deposit on a property in Torrevieja.
The trial was held on Wednesday at Section Eleven of Alicante Provincial Court, based in Elche. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the defendants signed a deposit contract with the buyers on 15 July 2015. The purchasers paid 30,000 euros as a reservation fee for the home.
The prosecution argues that only 2,500 euros of that sum was transferred to the property owner. The remaining 27,500 euros was due to be paid when the public deed of sale was signed.
However, the sale was never completed. Prosecutors allege that the two defendants kept the rest of the money paid by the buyers. The court is now considering the evidence before delivering its decision.
