Teachers on indefinite strike blocked the main access road to Los Montesinos on Tuesday, causing disruption in the Vega Baja area. Demonstrators gathered at the entrance to the town as part of ongoing industrial action over education policies.
The protest forms part of a wider indefinite strike by teaching staff, who have raised concerns about working conditions and education funding. Traffic was affected while the demonstration was under way.
In addition to the teachers’ demands, Los Montesinos Town Council has called on the regional Education Department to reconsider its decision to scrap the Vocational Training module in Restaurant Services. Local officials argue that removing the course would limit opportunities for students and could have a negative impact on future employment in the hospitality sector.
