Orihuela Local Police have arrested four people following a series of incidents in Orihuela Costa over the weekend, including alleged unlawful detention, sexual assault and vehicle theft.

The most serious case took place in the La Florida area on Sunday afternoon. Officers were approached by a distressed woman who said she had escaped from a property where she had been held against her will since late April. She told police she had suffered repeated threats and coercion, and that the man had allegedly warned he would share intimate photos and videos if she tried to leave. After locating the suspect at the property, officers arrested him on suspicion of unlawful detention, coercion, gender-based violence, sexual assault and disclosure of private information. He was later handed over to the Guardia Civil.

Also on Sunday, two people were arrested in Calle Colón after officers stopped a Lexus vehicle which was later confirmed as stolen in 2018. Police said there were signs the chassis number may have been tampered with. The car was recovered and impounded while investigations continue.

In a separate operation on Friday in Calle Traviata, officers arrested a man who was subject to an active court warrant issued by a court in Málaga.
