A video recorded on Guardamar del Segura beach has attracted widespread attention on Facebook after showing several large fish swimming close to the shoreline. The footage was filmed on 2 May 2026 by content creator Sonia la Tigresa during a local fishing competition.

In her post, she said she had never seen anything like it so close to the sand and suggested the animals were sharks. She insisted the video had not been edited and described the scene as “incredible”, explaining that she filmed it to prove what she was seeing.

The clip quickly prompted discussion among fishing enthusiasts. Several commenters played down fears, suggesting the fish were more likely palometones, large palometa or amberjack. These species are known to approach the surf zone while hunting shoals of smaller fish, particularly when there is plenty of activity in the water.

While some users reacted with humour, others noted that sizeable predatory fish near the shore are not unusual for experienced anglers. For many beachgoers the sight may seem rare, but for local fishermen it is a familiar part of coastal marine life.
