Torrevieja Council has launched its admissions campaign for the 2026/2027 academic year, aimed at families enrolling children in Infant, Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form education. The process comes amid unprecedented demographic growth in the town, placing significant pressure on local schools.

Applications for Infant and Primary begin on 7 May, with places published the same day. The submission period runs until 18 May, with final lists released on 18 June. For Secondary and Sixth Form, applications open from 21 May until 1 June at 15:00. The entire procedure will be carried out online through the Generalitat Valenciana’s official platform.

Education Councillor Ricardo Recuero said Torrevieja has seen pupil numbers rise from 10,597 in 2019 to more than 17,000 in 2026 — an increase of over 6,000 in seven years. He added that more than 2,000 additional pupils joined during the 2024/2025 school year alone, requiring constant adjustments to planning and resources.

The council is working with the regional government to respond to demand. Admissions are based on objective criteria, including proximity to home, siblings at the school and family income. Families are urged to check documentation carefully and meet all deadlines. The council has made guidance and support available throughout the process.
