Murcia is currently experiencing one of the most significant backlogs in driving tests in its history, with reports showing that a total of fifteen thousand seven hundred and seventy students are awaiting practical examinations. This figure comes from the latest data compiled by the Regional Association of Driving Schools as of the first of September. The backlog is most pronounced in Murcia city, where seven thousand three hundred and forty-six students are waiting.

Other areas affected include Cartagena with three thousand nine hundred and fifty-five students and Lorca with two thousand four hundred and seven students waiting to take their tests for category B driving permits, motorcycles, and heavy vehicles. The significant increase in waiting times and numbers of candidates has led to widespread frustration among those eager to attain their driving licenses.

The situation has worsened since the summer months when the number of aspirants waiting was approximately fourteen thousand five hundred. This surge in applicants has heightened the call for more resources to be allocated to facilitate driving tests and alleviate the pressure faced by both students and driving schools.

With many aspiring drivers in a holding pattern, it remains crucial for the authorities, including the Directorate General of Traffic, to find effective solutions to address this growing concern, ensuring timely access to practical examinations as the demand continues to rise.
