A French family holidaying in Javea on the Costa Blanca was involved in a serious incident on Thursday afternoon, July seventeenth. While crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing in the Arenal beach area, they were struck by a car. The victims include a father and his two children, aged two and five, who suffered serious injuries and were immobilised at the scene by emergency responders.

Emergency services, including the Local Police, Guardia Civil, and Red Cross, promptly arrived to provide assistance. The two-year-old was reported to have sustained cranioencephalic trauma and all three family members were taken to Dénia Hospital for further treatment. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many rushing to help and expressing relief upon hearing the children crying after the impact.

The vehicle responsible for the incident had previously hit two other pedestrians, including another child, at a nearby crossing. The driver was arrested on site after testing positive for alcohol. Authorities confirmed that the area has a strict thirty kilometre per hour speed limit and stated that the family was using the crossing correctly when the incident occurred.

This distressing incident has shocked both the local community and the numerous holidaymakers who witnessed it. An investigation into the event is currently ongoing.
