King Felipe VI is set to visit the Military Arsenal in Cartagena on Monday, the nineteenth of May, at nine thirty in the morning. The visit aims to provide the King with an opportunity to inspect the S-81 Isaac Peral submarine, prior to its operational launch. This submarine marks a significant milestone, being both the first of a series of four submarines constructed by Navantia and the first to be designed and built in Spain.

The S-81 Isaac Peral will be involved in naval exercises in the Canary Islands at the end of May, where it will perform a notable operation by sinking a decommissioned ship using a live torpedo for the first time. Following these exercises, the submarine is scheduled to become fully operational in July.

This visit will be the second engagement of the Royal Family in the Region of Murcia within a week. Earlier this week, Queen Letizia presided over the presentation of the 2025 Gold Medals of the Red Cross at the Romea Theatre in the capital.

This visit underscores the ongoing developments within the Spanish Navy and highlights the importance of naval capabilities in modern maritime operations.
