The National Police dismantled an indoor cannabis plantation in Orihuela, where officers discovered a total of seven hundred eighty-four cannabis sativa plants. This operation was carried out by the Judicial Police Brigade after receiving multiple reports about possible illegal activities on a property located in the outskirts of the municipality.

The investigation was initiated with discreet surveillance that revealed four men repeatedly entering and exiting an industrial warehouse. During this observation, officers noticed suspicious behaviours indicative of a cannabis cultivation operation, including counter-surveillance actions by the suspects.

Following these confirmations, police intercepted one suspect driving a vehicle containing remnants of cannabis and various cultivation supplies. Subsequent searches led to the arrest of another individual while the others were detained at their homes. Inside the facility, officers found advanced lighting and ventilation systems, illegally connected to the electrical grid, indicating a high level of sophistication.

The police were spurred to action following complaints from neighbours about unexplained power outages. This led technicians to detect irregular electricity consumption linked to the illegal operation. Additionally, the suspects allegedly used false documentation to rent the warehouse, utilising impersonation tactics common among organised groups involved in cannabis cultivation. All four men will face justice for various charges including drug trafficking and fraud.
