The Local Police in Benidorm have arrested seven individuals on charges of drug trafficking during a recent operation in the city’s ‘English Zone’. The operation targeted six bars, resulting in significant discoveries, as officers uncovered illicit substances concealed in various locations, including extinguishers and sofa covers.

Over the past month, four of the six inspected bars have been temporarily closed after traces of drugs were found within their premises. The police seized two hundred grams of cocaine, three hundred doses of LSD and MDMA, two hundred portions of marijuana, and twenty sections of hashish among other drugs. The operation also yielded eight bottles of nitrous oxide, various mobile phones, and three thousand euros in cash.

According to Quique Tortosa, a spokesperson for the Local Police, the estimated street value of the drugs confiscated exceeds thirty thousand euros. The arrested individuals, who come from British, Pakistani, and Moroccan backgrounds, have been transferred to the National Police Station, where the Drug Squad will determine their judicial proceedings.

The modus operandi of the individuals involved was notably similar; they hid the drugs in a variety of locations throughout the bars. The successful operation reflects the ongoing efforts of local authorities to crack down on drug-related activities in popular tourist zones.
