The region of Murcia faced severe weather yesterday afternoon as a storm rolled in, affecting areas particularly in Mula. Heavy rain and hail led to significant disruptions on the roads, with the Aemet reporting rainfall of thirty-three litres per square metre within just one hour, causing problems on the circumvallation of Mula. The impact was substantial enough to require traffic restrictions on both sides of the A15 motorway in the vicinity.

In response to the worsening conditions, the Aemet upgraded the weather alert from yellow to orange in several municipalities, including the Vega del Segura, Valle del Guadalentín, Lorca, and Águilas. Later, the alert was downgraded back to yellow until ten o’clock in the evening, indicating a temporary respite.

As the storm progressed, it continued to bring rainfall across the region, with Mula experiencing one of the highest accumulations of nearly fifty litres throughout the afternoon. Other affected areas included Lorca, Albudeite, Alguazas, and Alhama de Murcia, where they also recorded significant rainfall.

Despite the storms primarily affecting the western part of Murcia, the majority of locales saw rain during the afternoon. With reports indicating that all regions, excluding the Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón, were placed under storm alerts, citizens are advised to stay updated on the conditions and remain cautious on the roads.
