The Costa Blanca Rawhiders, a local motorcycle group in Alicante, made a generous donation of six hundred sixty-eight euros to the Torrevieja Alzheimer’s Day Centre last Friday. The funds will be used to purchase new staff uniforms for the upcoming year, reflecting the group’s ongoing commitment to supporting community initiatives. Their visit included a warm welcome from the centre’s President and a guided tour of the facilities.

During their tour, the Rawhiders met with both staff and patients, gaining valuable insight into the daily operations and the dedication required in caring for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease. The group described the experience as profoundly humbling, highlighting the importance of community involvement.

A spokesperson for AFA Torrevieja, the Alzheimer’s Association, expressed their gratitude towards the Rawhiders for their generous contribution. The spokesperson noted, “Year after year, this group of bikers raises money to fulfill our needs, so we are always grateful for their help.” The Rawhiders have supported the association since its inception in two thousand ten, taking a needs-based approach to their donations.

Instead of merely giving cash, the group collaborates with the association to create an annual ‘wish list’ of required items, which often includes kitchen supplies, medical equipment, and uniforms. Fundraising efforts take place through community events, such as charity barbecues and sponsored ride-outs, ensuring all proceeds are directed to fulfilling the association’s needs. The Rawhiders also host an Open Day on the second Sunday of each month at their clubhouse, inviting the public to learn more about their activities and charitable work.
