On Friday, the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, revealed plans to significantly enhance the city’s green spaces. The allotment will extend to ninety thousand square metres over the coming years, coupled with a commitment to plant fifteen thousand trees. This announcement coincides with the launch of a new maintenance service for green areas and open spaces in the municipality.

The new maintenance contract, approved for one hundred eleven million euros, has been awarded to Actúa, part of the Hozono Global group, for a period of fifteen years. The investment will see the number of staff increase from fifty-nine to one hundred thirteen, and the fleet of vehicles will rise from twenty-five to sixty-eight units, significantly boosting local employment and service efficiency.

The multimillion-euro contract will cover the upkeep of three hundred sixty-two public spaces, including parks, gardens, squares, sports zones, and play areas, expanding care coverage to a total of two million square metres. Six new parks will be created, with the most notable being a seventy thousand square metre project in Sector Twenty-Five.

A permanent technical office will oversee these initiatives, and the establishment will include a citizen service point alongside an informative web portal for reporting issues. The awarded company has prior experience maintaining public spaces, having previously operated in partnership until the end of their last contract in June twenty twenty-two, which lasted a total of twelve years.
