In an incident occurring in the mountains of Orihuela, a thirty-nine year old man required rescue services after he was injured while climbing the Via del Piti on the Pared Negra. The climber sustained injuries to his leg and face as a result of a fall.
Due to the challenging terrain and difficulty in accessing the injured man on foot, the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters deployed a helicopter for the rescue operation. A Special Rescue Group was activated in conjunction with the air support.
Once the climber was stabilised at the site, he was transported by helicopter to Vega Baja Hospital. Medical professionals there provided treatment for his various traumas.
The effective use of aerial support highlights the capabilities of local emergency services to respond to challenging situations in difficult terrains.
