Torrevieja records more than 10,000 criminal offences in 2025

Torrevieja recorded 10,089 criminal offences in 2025, an increase of 8.3% compared with 2024, when 9,316 offences were registered. The figures from Spain’s Interior Ministry include 9,067 conventional crimes and 1,022 cybercrimes. The most serious offences included one completed homicide, four attempted homicides, 150 cases of assault and disorder, one kidnapping and 87 offences against sexual freedom. More than 2,000 boat migrants intercepted in Murcia this year

More than 2,000 people travelling aboard boats have been intercepted in the Region of Murcia through July, according to the Unified Association of Civil Guards, known as the AUGC. Babilonia residents face renewed demolition fears after court ruling

Valencia’s infrastructure minister, Vicente Martínez Mus, and the Generalitat’s director general of coastal affairs, Marc Manzana, will meet residents of Babilonia beach in Guardamar on 27 August. Proposed rules could limit pub closing times in Orihuela and Torrevieja

Pubs and similar venues in Orihuela and Torrevieja could face a maximum four-thirty closing time from 2027, under a proposed order from the Valencian Government’s Department of Emergencies and the Interior. Orihuela’s Coastal Department has completed a series of emergency and environmental drills at locations along the municipality’s coastline. The exercises were held on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 August to improve emergency response, assess available resources and test operational plans and communication systems. Two injured in motorbike and car crash in Torrevieja

Two people have been injured in a traffic collision involving a motorbike and a car on the N-332, near Torrevieja’s municipal cemetery. The crash happened at around 9.30pm on Wednesday evening. The emergency medical coordination centre received the alert and sent a SAMU medical unit and an urgent transport ambulance to the scene.
