Government promises support for victims of flooding
Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has promised government support for communities hit by Storm Adam.
After visiting the emergency coordination centre in Oliva, Valencia, he said the Cabinet would declare the affected municipalities severely impacted by a civil protection emergency.
The move is intended to unlock financial assistance and speed up recovery work.
Some areas of the Valencia coast and northern Alicante have recorded more than 700 litres of rain per square metre, causing serious flooding and damage.
Sánchez also called for a national agreement on tackling the effects of extreme weather.
