Train fire causes delays between Madrid and Barcelona

Rail services between Madrid and Barcelona were disrupted yesterday after a fire broke out on an AVE train in Zaragoza province.

The train, travelling from Madrid towards Figueres, stopped near Ricla after flames were detected in its rear cab. All 283 passengers were evacuated.

Two people needed medical attention for dizziness, but no serious injuries were reported.

The line has since partially reopened, although trains must use a single track on part of the route, with further delays possible.

Thousands of passengers were affected, and Renfe offered ticket changes and refunds.
