The Chandrexa de Queixa and Vilariño de Conso wildfire, now stabilised, was ignited by three different fronts. The initial fire broke out in the Requeixo parish on Friday the eighth of August, later joined by additional fires in Parafita on the twelfth and Mormentelos, which reignited on the fourteenth. While the situation has improved, Ourense remains in emergency Situation Two with two active blazes.

One fire in the Nieva parish of Avión has consumed approximately seventy hectares. The second, in Carballeda de Valdeorras, originated from the Porto area in Zamora and has burned around four thousand four hundred hectares, keeping locals and emergency teams on high alert.

In addition to the Chandrexa wildfire, stabilisation efforts have also successful results with several other blazes in the region. The Larouco fire has been brought under control, devastating thirty thousand hectares, while other fires have been stabilised in Oímbra and A Mezquita, affecting seventeen thousand and ten thousand hectares, respectively.

The fire suppression teams’ relentless efforts have led to the control of an additional six wildfires across the community, five of which are in Ourense. Although significant damage has occurred, the current situation indicates substantial progress towards managing this wave of wildfires.
