A surf instructor has been sentenced to an extensive prison term of seventy-one years, five months, and nine days by the Audiencia de Guipúzcoa for sexually abusing eleven minors. The court also ruled that he must pay compensation to the victims ranging from three thousand to thirty thousand euros. Additionally, he is prohibited from any job that involves direct contact with children.

The court imposed various sentences for multiple counts of sexual abuse and possession of child exploitation material. According to the evidence presented during the trial, the instructor exploited his position to build trust with the children, leading to emotional manipulation and coercion.

Family representatives expressed mixed feelings about the verdict, stating they were “partially satisfied.” Concerns were raised about the lack of recognition of intimidation in the ruling. The victims’ attorney highlighted that the context of trust created by the accused was a significant factor that contributed to the victims’ silence.

The surf instructor, who was thirty-seven years old at the time of his arrest in August twenty twenty-one, was immediately imprisoned. Authorities discovered a hard drive containing thousands of files related to child exploitation, leading to these severe charges against him. The prosecution initially sought an eighty-five-year prison sentence for his actions.
