Two Scottish men, Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jr, have died following a shooting at Monaghans Irish Bar in Fuengirola, a town in the Malaga province of Spain. Witnesses reported that a masked man opened fire at the bar around eleven PM, resulting in both men being pronounced dead at the scene.

Monaghan was previously linked to a high-profile gang-related murder and was acquitted in two thousand ten due to insufficient evidence. Lyons Jr had a history of violence, having survived a shooting in two thousand six connected to a gang feud. Their deaths have raised concerns about ongoing gang rivalries.

Local eyewitness Siobhan Duffy described the chaos as she and her sister sat nearby, unaware of the shooting until they received news from family. Police Scotland stated that the investigation is being led by the Spanish authorities, who have mobilised a specialist violent crime unit to handle the case.

The shooting occurs against the backdrop of decades-long feuds between the Lyons and the Daniels organised crime groups in Scotland, which have led to numerous violent episodes. Monaghan himself was shot in the back in two thousand seventeen following an altercation related to his gang associations.
