A tragic incident occurred today in Coaña, Asturias, where a livestock building under construction collapsed, resulting in the deaths of three workers. The emergency services report that three other individuals sustained injuries, with one in serious condition. This incident took place in the western coastal municipality, approximately one hundred and twenty kilometres from Oviedo.

The emergency services received an alert just after one o’clock this afternoon regarding the collapse of the roof at the Cancello Livestock facility. At the time of the incident, there were nine individuals present. Emergency teams immediately mobilised, including firefighters, civil guard patrols, and medical units.

Two injured workers were transported to Jarrio Hospital, while a third was airlifted to the Central University Hospital of Asturias in Oviedo. Thankfully, three other employees escaped the disaster unharmed. The regional emergency coordination centre remains on-site and has confirmed that, according to initial reports, no one else is missing.

Several officials, including the Minister of Rural Affairs and Agricultural Policy, Marcelino Marcos, have arrived at the scene to oversee the situation. Emergency teams, including canine units and drones, continue to assist, alongside psychological support teams from the Red Cross to help those affected by this tragedy.
